chapters 8 and 9

Chapters 8 and 9 were hard for me to relate to. I have had amazing parents and amazing friends growing up as a child to adulthood. Most people don't experience having the same group of friends from birth through the rest of their lives. The one thing that I could relate with was that your peers and family being positive can help with how you feel about yourself and how you look at yourself. I know that because of the friends and family I have I look at myself in a way more positive way then i would without them because they are 100% my support and I can lean on them and tell them things and they tell me if i shouldnt do something or if i handled something wrong but they also stand by me with what i choose because they are true friends.

Childhood

There are alot of things that are happening through childhood but when you have a dissability like ADHD( yes i called it a dissability) it makes being a child even harder then it already is to be a child it makes it so that children with ADHD suffer because other children dont always like them and most the time they are pushed away from other children and they also lack in the ability to learn like other children. I cant explain how hard a child with ADHD has it trying to grow up dealing with it.

Things that are shown to have an effect of childrens development

The chapters 4 and 5 reading made me think about how children in different cultures are being raised and how we are being raised in the united states and in turn made me realise that there are a lot of similar things that happen. One of the things that is similar is how a mother, father or parental figure treats or responds to a child is the basis of how that child is going to grow up and the traits that they have in many different areas of their lives. Also the environment and cultural settings have alot to do with parts of the child growing up as they explained in the book a child from one culture will be passive and the other culture would not be in certain situations. Religious beliefs play into a child up bringing as well as all the other factors involved. So in turn i think that a child is effected by all aspects of life and each part plays an important roll in the up bringing of a child in today's world.

Children learning to walk

In chapters 2 and 3 i thought that the process of how a child grows and learns to sit, crawl and walk is amazing in how much it actually takes them to get to those points in their lives. The different things that they have to go through and how their balance and everything about them changes at every step of the way. A child has so many things to learn and explore with their bodies and movements that its amazing on the thought process that it entails for them to learn any of it including walking and how they have proven that babies understand moving their legs in alternating patterns long before they learn to walk.
