chapters 8 and 9
Chapters 8 and 9 were hard for me to relate to. I have had amazing parents and amazing friends growing up as a child to adulthood. Most people don't experience having the same group of friends from birth through the rest of their lives. The one thing that I could relate with was that your peers and family being positive can help with how you feel about yourself and how you look at yourself. I know that because of the friends and family I have I look at myself in a way more positive way then i would without them because they are 100% my support and I can lean on them and tell them things and they tell me if i shouldnt do something or if i handled something wrong but they also stand by me with what i choose because they are true friends.

It sounds like your parents have done a great job and I hope that my children feel so positive about their childhood. It's nice to hear actually. We are very accustomed to hearing the opposite.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it gives me hope :)
DeleteIt is a breath of fresh air to hear such a positive reaction to parents! My oldest daughter is now nineteen and she recently wrote me a letter from college. In it, she told me of all the times I had said positive things, when the things she was doing and feeling were so negative. I think the key is, that you KNOW without doubt, your family is behind you, through the good and the bad. A lot of times in our lives, we find that people come and go based on how easy it is to stay. If we know our family will always be ther, it makes the world a much softer place to be.
